Did you know that there is a site on the internet where users can post links or content, which is then voted on and ranked by members? The more votes a post receives determines its position on the site's page.
Well the website is called Reddit - and I just learned about it in class last night. At first I was quite skeptical because a majority of the posts are very obscure and don't always seem serious. For example after spending 20 minutes poking around the site, I learned about the heart wrenching story of a dog that was nursed back to health after being left at the bottom of a garbage shoot, got information about a company who converts children's drawings into stuffed animals, and read something about how bath bubbles can cure your libido. There were also several posts about current news stories, but today most of the serious articles were overshadowed by random links. For example the top ranked post dealt with someone who built a portable Xbox 360.
Anyways - it was interesting to check out and I am glad I now know what Reddit is all about. Feel free to explore it yourself - just make sure you have a little extra time on your hands, because it was very hard not to get suckered into clicking on at least several of the intriguing, yet random links.
